Products

What's the difference between SuperWeft, SecretTapes, and Keratin Tips?

SuperWeft® is our flagship micro-weft system — PU-coated for zero shedding, cuttable anywhere on the seam, and stackable up to 5 rows per install. Rated 12+ months.

SecretTapes® are ultra-discreet tape-ins with our DirectInjection™ weft. Rated 3–4 months per application, reapplicable up to 3x.

Keratin Tips are premium clear Italian vegan keratin bonds with a precision V-cut top, splittable into micro bonds for a seamless install. 25 strands per pack.

Is the hair 100% human?

Yes — every Drop Dead product is 100% Remy human hair. Single-donor sourced, cuticle-aligned, no synthetic fibers, no animal hair, no blends. See our Ethics & Sourcing section for what 'single-donor' actually means in our supply chain.

What's the difference between SuperTied and traditional hand-tied wefts?

SuperTied wefts solve the problems hand-tied stylists run into most:

  • No knotting or matting at the seam — stays flat and clean through wash cycles.
  • Far fewer client complaints — slimmer profile, better comfort, no surprise itch.
  • More density in a slimmer weft — more hair per row without bulk.
  • Cuttable anywhere on the seam — no more bricklaying short 10" wefts to fit a head.
  • No unraveling, no shedding — the PU-coated seam locks every fiber.
  • Slimmer stacked rows — up to 5 rows of hidden volume.
  • Easier beaded foundation — slim profile disappears under the foundation row.
Do SuperWeft seams absorb color when I custom-color a bundle?

The PU-coated seam strip itself does not absorb color — that's by design. The coating is what gives the weft its zero-shedding, no-unraveling structure.

Color the hair, not the seam. If you're going dramatically darker, expect a faint visual contrast at the very edge of the seam — usually invisible once installed under the row above. For high-contrast work where the seam might peek, our (R)1N-(B)10V is the stylist-favorite root-melt that skips the problem entirely.

What is BalancedBlend™ and why does it matter?

BalancedBlend™ is our 50% double-drawn density specification — roughly 2x the density you'll find in standard single-drawn extensions.

Single-drawn thins out fast at the tips (which is why so many brands look 'stringy' after a few weeks). Fully double-drawn is dense but stiff, and doesn't move the way natural hair does. BalancedBlend is calibrated in between — the longevity of double-drawn, the movement of single. That's why we can rate SuperWeft at 12+ months.

How long does each product last?

With proper application and aftercare:

  • SuperWeft: 12+ months
  • SecretTapes: 3–4 months per application, reapplicable up to 3 times
  • Keratin Tips: 3–5 months, depending on growth cycle and installation method

Longevity is also tied to color chemistry, heat habits, and sleep/brushing routines — see our Care section below.

Why is your hair more expensive than other brands?

Three reasons:

  • Single-donor, top 3% raw material — most 'premium' extensions are blended bundles from dozens of donors. We don't blend.
  • BalancedBlend™ 50% double-drawn density — roughly 2x the density of standard single-drawn. The hair lasts longer because there's more hair to begin with.
  • SA8000-certified manufacturing — fair wages, third-party audited. Cheap extensions are usually cheap because someone else paid the cost.

The math: a SuperWeft set rated 12+ months costs less per month than a 'budget' set you re-buy every 3.

Professional Access

Why is Drop Dead professional-only?

Extensions are finishing-room material, not DTC inventory. Color calibration, install mechanics, and long-term wear all depend on a trained stylist's hand — and we're not willing to put product into untrained ones.

Keeping it professional-only also protects your retail pricing. Your client sees your work, not our wholesale cost.

How do I qualify for a professional account?

Apply with a valid cosmetology license or equivalent certification (region-dependent) plus salon or business details. Most applications are reviewed within 1–2 business days.

Already licensed and applying from a recognized academy program? Note it in your application — we support the next generation of stylists entering the profession.

Are you accepting educator partnerships?

We partner with select stylist-educators who already have an established teaching practice — premier shows, in-salon master classes, or recognized academy programs. Email partnerships@dropdeadextensions.com with your portfolio, current teaching schedule, and what you'd want a partnership to look like.

We respond to every inquiry, but we keep the active educator roster small — the goal is depth, not volume.

Can my clients see pricing?

No. All pricing is gated behind a logged-in professional account. Your clients cannot see what you pay — you control your own retail pricing.

Do I need to upcharge clients for the extensions?

Yes — and this is one of the most important business decisions you'll make. Drop Dead pricing is your wholesale cost; the price your client pays is whatever you set.

Industry-standard markup runs 2x–2.5x on hair, on top of your install labor. So if a SuperWeft set is $X wholesale, your client pays $2X–$2.5X for the hair plus your install fee. That covers your time, your warranty risk, your move-ups, and the cost of carrying inventory.

Stylists who don't upcharge usually quit doing extensions within a year. Don't be that stylist.

Should I let my client pay with their own credit card on my account?

No — and this is a costly mistake to make. Two reasons:

  1. Refunds only go back as store credit, not to the client's card. If your client decides against the install after you've ordered, you're on the hook to refund their cash out of your pocket — and the store credit sits with you.
  2. You expose your wholesale pricing. The receipt the client signs shows your cost. That's the entire reason we gate pricing behind professional accounts — don't undo it at checkout.

The right pattern: invoice your client through your own POS at retail, collect their payment, then place the order on Drop Dead at your wholesale cost. Use a signed extension agreement that says 'once hair is ordered, no refunds — exchanges only.'

Can my client use the payment plan option on my account?

No. The payment plans at our checkout are for licensed stylists purchasing inventory (including stylists who wear extensions personally). They aren't a back door for end-clients to access wholesale pricing.

How to offer your client a payment plan instead:

  1. Set up Buy Now Pay Later through your own POS — Afterpay, Klarna, Square Installments all integrate.
  2. Invoice your client through your POS for the full retail cost (hair + install) with the installment option enabled.
  3. Once you've collected payment, place the order through Drop Dead at your wholesale price.

Marketing tip: 'Buy now, pay later with no interest' is one of the strongest levers in extensions. Most clients don't know it's possible. Add it to your service menu and your before/after captions.

Why does Drop Dead offer payment plans if clients can't use them?

Our checkout payment plans are designed for the stylist — including stylists who wear our extensions personally. They aren't intended for end-clients to access pro pricing or shop directly. If your client wants a payment plan, set one up through your own POS (see the question above).

Ordering & Shipping

How fast do orders ship?

In-stock orders typically ship within 1–2 business days from our US warehouse. You'll get tracking the moment your order leaves the dock.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes — orders of $250 or more ship free via 2-day ground within the contiguous US. Orders under that pick a paid carrier option at checkout. International rates appear at checkout once your professional account is approved for your region.

The threshold is per-order, not per-account — combining a smaller restock with your next bundle order is the easy way to clear it.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — approved professional accounts in supported regions. If your region isn't listed at checkout, reach out; we add new regions based on professional demand.

Can I track my order?

Tracking is emailed the moment your order ships and is always available from your Drop Dead account under Orders.

Can I change or cancel my shipping address after placing an order?

Double-check your shipping address before you submit — that's the safest version. Orders are typically processed within 1–2 business days, and once an order is picked or handed to the carrier, address changes are usually not possible.

If you catch the mistake within minutes of ordering, email support@dropdeadextensions.com immediately with your order number and the corrected address. We'll attempt the change but can't promise we'll catch it in time.

We don't recommend shipping to business addresses — ship to your residence. Carrier handoff at a business front desk is the most common source of misdelivery and theft claims.

Should I add shipping insurance at checkout?

For higher-value sets — yes, strongly recommended. Shipping insurance is optional, and declining it transfers the risk of loss, theft, or damage in transit to you once the package leaves our dock.

If insurance was declined and your package goes missing, we'll still investigate with the carrier on a case-by-case basis — but we're not obligated to replace or refund. For a single bundle the math may be fine to skip; for a multi-row install on its way to a salon, insure it.

My package was marked delivered but I never received it — what now?

Work this list in order, fast:

  1. Check neighbors, building management, mailroom, or the salon's front desk. Most 'never delivered' scans are misdeliveries that turn up in 24–48 hours.
  2. File a police report. Required for almost any claim involving a delivered-but-missing scan.
  3. Contact us within 7 days of the delivery scan at support@dropdeadextensions.com with your order number, tracking number, and a copy of the police report.

We'll investigate case-by-case. If shipping insurance was declined we can't guarantee a replacement, but we always look into it.

Care & Longevity

What aftercare do you recommend for clients?

Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Avoid applying heavy oils or leave-ins directly at the bond or weft line. Loose braid or low pony for sleeping. Wet brush only, starting from the ends. Heat tools under 400°F. And schedule regular move-ups on the cadence your install method calls for.

We publish a full care PDF inside every professional account for you to share with clients.

Can Drop Dead extensions be colored?

Yes — our ClearCanvas® technology means the hair is uncoated and silicone-free, so it takes custom color cleanly. Keep chemistry off the bonds and wefts themselves, use professional-grade color, and patch-test as you would on any client hair.

Do colors from the factory dyes bleed? Should I rinse before install?

For most colors, no rinse needed — our color process is locked in at the factory and ready to install. One exception worth a pre-rinse: custom-toned bundles you've recolored yourself — always rinse and shampoo until the water runs clear.

Pre-install rinse is never harmful — if you're unsure, rinse.

What black color do you recommend for high-contrast looks with blondes?

(R)1N-(B)10V — a black root pre-melted into an icy blonde. No need to chemically tone the bond line yourself, and you can do a quick purple shampoo bath to push the blonde even cooler.

If you're custom-coloring instead: avoid blue-blacks (Pravana 1N, Redken 1B, Pravana Hydragloss 1B all bleed heavily on blondes). Use a permanent natural-toned black, process for the full timer, and shampoo 5x before the client leaves. Demi colors bleed worse than permanent — counterintuitive, but consistent.

What habits shorten extension life?

Chlorinated and salt water without a pre-rinse. Heat over 400°F. Box color or drugstore toner at the bond line. Aggressive detangling from the roots down. And skipping move-ups past the recommended window. Most 'extensions don't last' stories trace back to one of these.

Can Drop Dead extensions be permed?

Perming isn't compatible with Drop Dead extensions. The disulfide-bond restructuring perms rely on is too aggressive for processed Remy hair — it can break down the cuticle and ruin the bundle.

If a client wants a curl pattern that isn't their natural one, choose a pre-textured product (Body Wave, Loose Wave, or Tight Wave — available across SuperWeft and Keratin Tips) instead of trying to perm a straight set.

Damage from perming isn't a manufacturing defect, so it isn't covered by the Tangle-Free Guarantee — but reach out and we'll help get you back up with the right textured product.

Can I use Brazilian Bond Builder Split End Treatment on Drop Dead extensions?

We don't recommend it. The treatment seals the ends with heat to make them look healthy — but that seal also blocks the moisture extensions need most. The cosmetic improvement lasts a week or two; the moisture-blocked damage compounds over the rest of the install.

What works better:

  • Trim the visible split ends.
  • Stop heat styling above 400°F.
  • Audit client home-care for silicones and protein build-up that block moisture.
  • Add weekly deep-conditioning to the routine.

If a bundle has split ends well outside the norm — and you know the client isn't heat-styling at 300°F+ — it may fall under our Tangle-Free Guarantee. Reach out at support@dropdeadextensions.com.

Returns & Guarantee

How does the 90-day return window work?

You have 90 days from purchase to return or exchange unopened product for full credit or a swap. Opened product is covered for manufacturing defects under the same window — see the Tangle-Free Guarantee question below for specifics. The 90 days is your claim window, not the lifespan of the hair — extensions are engineered to last 12+ months.

What items aren't eligible for return?

A few categories are excluded:

  • Custom orders — non-cancellable, non-returnable. Anything cut, colored, or built to your spec ships as-is.
  • Clearance items past the 7-day window — see the clearance question below.
  • Used or opened hair — except for verified manufacturing defects under the Tangle-Free Guarantee.
  • Damage from improper handling, install, removal, or aftercare — including heat above 275°F at the bond line, chemistry on the seam, and chlorine or saltwater exposure without a pre-rinse.

Eligible returns must be unworn and unused, in original cord binding, with intact packaging and proof of purchase.

Can I return clearance items?

Clearance is exchange-only, within a 7-day window from delivery, for store credit valid on future clearance purchases only. Past the 7-day window, clearance is final sale.

This is by design — clearance pricing is sharp because the bundle is moving fast, not because we're stuck with it. If you need full return flexibility, order full-price hair.

How do I start a return?

Log into your Drop Dead account and click Start a Return at the top of the Account page. That opens our returns portal at returns.dropdeadhair.com, which walks you through the rest. Returns are typically processed within 5–7 business days of arrival at our US warehouse.

How quickly are returns approved and processed?

Submit through the returns portal in your account. The typical path:

  • Low-value orders (under $100): instant pre-approval.
  • Most other returns: approved within 10 business days of submission.
  • Receipt and inspection: 5–7 business days from when the return arrives at our US warehouse.

Approved returns receive a prepaid return label. Photos are required for any claim under the Tangle-Free Guarantee. We reserve the right to deny accounts that exceed a 20% return rate, with advance notice.

What form does my refund take — money back or store credit?

Depends on what's being returned:

  • Unused, unopened hair: store credit for the full item value (minus shipping and tax).
  • Clearance items: store credit valid on future clearance purchases only.
  • Verified manufacturing defects: your choice of full replacement, like-for-like exchange, or 50% refund.

Store credit is emailed when issued, never expires, and is always accessible from the dashboard in your Drop Dead account. We don't refund standard returns to the original payment method — every working stylist we've talked to reuses Drop Dead credit within a couple of months anyway.

I received the wrong color — how do I exchange?

Email support@dropdeadextensions.com with your order number and what you ordered vs. what you received. We'll issue a return label and ship the correct color same-business-day in most cases.

If the bundle is unopened, we cover return shipping. If you opened the bundle to check — that's fine, just don't install. Color-mix-up returns are our highest-priority queue.

What does the Tangle-Free Guarantee cover (and not cover)?

The Tangle-Free Guarantee is our quality promise on the hair itself — engineered for 12+ months of normal salon use, with the 90-day window as your claim period if something falls outside that.

Covered: manufacturing defects — abnormal shedding, weft integrity failures, color shift outside our published spec, bond failures not caused by install.

Not covered: installation error, client-side color chemistry applied post-purchase, heat damage, chlorine/saltwater damage, and wear from skipped move-ups. Our 99.99% perfect performance score is the baseline — if your bundle is outside that, we make it right.

Ethics & Sourcing

What does SA8000 certification actually mean?

SA8000 is an independently audited international labor standard. Our manufacturing partner is certified against it, which means fair wages, no child labor, no forced labor, safe working conditions, and freedom of association — verified by a third party, not self-declared.

We were the first professional-only extension brand built on an SA8000 baseline.

What does 'single-donor sourcing' mean?

Each bundle is sourced from one individual's hair — not blended from dozens of donors. We select from the top 3% of available raw material, then inspect every bundle in-house (not at the factory) before it leaves for the pro community.

That's why color stays true and texture stays consistent bundle to bundle.

What causes do you support?

Two, meaningfully:

  • One Tree Planted — one tree planted for every bundle sold.
  • Cut It Out — stylist-led training and resources to recognize and respond to domestic violence. Stylists are often the first to notice when a client isn't safe.
