Drop Dead began in 2018 in a salon chair — not a boardroom. Kristi Day, a working extensionist, kept running into the same problem: hair that photographed beautifully and fell apart under real-world installs. Shedding. Matting. Color shift. Inconsistent density. Broken promises, bundle after bundle.

So she spent four years quietly rebuilding extensions, how they should be created, not just private labeled. pH-controlled processing. Low-temp coloring. SA8000-certified ethical sourcing. Single-donor selection from the top 3% of raw material. And a double-drawn density blend calibrated for the way working stylists actually style and finish.

In 2022, Drop Dead launched publicly — professional-only, then and always.

2018R&D begins
Kristi Day starts rebuilding extensions from the manufacturing floor up. Working from behind the chair, not behind a desk.
2020Ethics, first
Partnership with an SA8000-certified manufacturer locks in the industry's first ethical manufacturing baseline. Proprietary processes begin to take shape and we work on features no other extension has that helps our hair retain moisture and hold color.
2022Public launch
Drop Dead opens to the professional community. The highest achievable density at the ends. Ready to take color with no coatings, silicones or finishes. Tangle-free guaranteed.
2024Scaling the standard
SuperWeft, SecretTapes, and Keratin Tips expand the system. In-house inspection stays — every bundle, no exceptions. Only the highest standards of quality are acceptable. Anything less than ideal we replace.

Most brands blend dozens of donors into a bundle, which is why color shifts and textures fight each other within weeks. We source single-donor in the top 3% of available raw material — then inspect every bundle in-house.

Single-drawn bundles thin out fast at the tip. Full double-drawn is dense but stiff. BalancedBlend is calibrated to sit the way human hair does, with the longevity of double-drawn and the movement of single.
